French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was fought over the Ohio River Valley. The french and the Indiands fought against England and their colonist. Quebec was the turning point of the war because England surrounded the french in a suprise attack .England and the colonist won the war, and they gained all french land in North America east of the Mississippi river, French Canada, and Spanish Florida. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Part was when Samuel Adams and the sons of liberty boardered 3 ships and dumped tea in the Boston Harbor. They wanted to protest British Parliament's unfair tax on tea. This happened in Boston, Massachusetts. In result of the Boston Tea Party they passed the Intolerable Act. -

The Louisiana Purchase was when the Louisiana territory was brought from France.The Louisiana territory was 828,000,000 square miles of territory. This doubled the size of the U.S. The result of buying the louisiana territory Thomas Jefferson sent Louis and Clark to explore the land. -

The steamboat was invented by Robert Fulton. The steamboat used steam to power itself. It could go up and down streams. It made water travel faster. It was very cheap and it could carry a lot of goods. -

The U.S. said the Texas border was the Rio Grande.But Mexico said the texas border was Nueces. The U.S won the war and the border was set at the Rio Grande. The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war and the U.S. gained the Mexican Cession. -

The California Gold Rush was when the discovery of the gold nuggets were found in the Sacramento Valley.As the news spread of the discovery of gold, miners traveled to San Francisco. Miners extracted more than 750,000 pounds of gold during the gold rush. The book Uncle Tom's Cabin was published on March 20 , 1852 and it was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It's an anti-slavery novel and it helped lay the groundwork for the civil war. Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best selling novel of the 19th century. In the first year after it was published 300,000 copies. -
Gettysburg Address
The Gettysburg Address was one of the most famous speeches in American History. The speech was 2 minutes long , and it was given by Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln gave this speech at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA. -
Reconstruction
Reconstruction was when the U.S was rebuilding itself after the Civil war. Freemen's Bureau was created during this time period it helped African Americans adjust to life in the south.Their was also Black Codes which limited / restricted the blacks. Black Codes denied basic rights to blacks. Also the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was created it was a secret society in the south responsible for violence against blacks (lynching)
