Who- Mexican Government and the Edward Brothers, Haden and Benjamin
What- Fredonian Rebellion
Where- Haden Edwards settled 800 families around Nacogdoches in eastern Texas. Later, Austin's colony arrived at Nacogdoches, The revolutionists fled & crossed the Sabine River.
When- From December 21,1826 to January 31, 1827
Why- To uphold land grants certified by the Spanish and Mexican governments.
How- Settlers who couldn't prove ownership were forced to move out or pay Haden Edwards for their land. -
Guerrero Decree
Who- Vicente R. Guerrero
What- Guerrero Decree
Where- Texas
When- September 15, 1829
Why- It is not fully understood why Guerrero issued this law, but it is thought that he may have hoped the decree would be a check on American immigration.
How- The news of the decree did alarm Texans who petitioned Guerrero to exempt Texas from the law. On December 2 the Mexican Government notified the governor of Texas that no change would be made respecting the slaves in Texas. -

Why- To stop flood of immigration from the United States to Texas
How-The law forbade further introduction to slaves into Mexico, and intended to suspend existing empresario contracts. -
Conflict at Anahuac
Who- col. Juan Davis Bradburn came to the mouth of the Trinity River on Galveston Bay to establish a garrison and a town.
What- Conflict at Anahuac

Why- Juan Bradburn was ordered to establish a garrison and a town
How- Settlers organized a rescue force of perhaps 200 men, who reached Turtle Bayou. -
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
Who- The Texas Rebels.
What They learned that Santa Anna had won a battle. They took advantage of the news and explained that their attack against the fort at Anahuac was them wanting to return to the Constitution of 1824.
Where- Near Galveston.
When- June 12, 1832
Why- They believed that the Constitution of 1824 should still apply. They also did not want to be punished for their attack.
How- They went to the government and explained that it was not Texans attacking a Mexican garrison. -
Battle of Velasco
Who- Henry Smith and John Austin were in charge of the Texans who were going to Brazoria.
What - Mexican and Texas forces were at battle.
When- June 26, 1832
Where- Fort Velasco
Why- The Mexican force would not allow Texas to pass with their boat because they were transporting a cannon.
How- Eventually enough tension led to a gun battle. -
Mier y Teran Report
Who- President Guadalupe Victoria named Mier y Teran to lead a scientific and boundary expedition into Texas
What- Mier y Teran Report
Where- United States-Mexico boundary between the Sabine and Red rivers.
When- From February 18,1991 to July 3, 1832
Why- Observe the natural resources and the Indians, to discover the number and attitudes of the Americans living there.
How- Strong measures taken to stop the United States from acquiring Texas. -
Convention of 1832
Who-Stephen F. Austin and 55 delegates.
What-Adopting a system of resolutions that would get more land, allow more immigration, aid in school maintenance and provide more safety. The most controversial was the request for a separate statehood from Coahuila.
When-October 1-6, 1832
Where-San Felipe de Austin.
Why- Following the battles they were looking to extend immigration and provide more safety.
How-Holding a convention to request new resolutions. -
Convention of 1833
Who-William H. Wharton, 56 delegates and Sam Houston.
What- They petitioned to repel anti-immigration law, better protection from Indians, improvements to mail service tariff help and a law that would not allow African slaves into Texas. Also they wanted to propose a split Coahuila and Texas.
When-April 1, 1833
Where-San Felipe
Why- To repeal anti-immigration laws and divide Texas and Coahuilla
How- By preparing a petition to repeal the law and a constitution if the split was approved. -
Stephen F. Austin goes to Mexico City
Who- Stephen F. Austin.
What- The Convention of 1833 elected Stephen F. Austin to deliver petitions to Mexico City.
Where- Mexico City.
When- Left in April of 1833 and arrived in July of 1833.
Why- They wanted to repeal the law of April 6, 1830, and promise reforms in Texas local government.
How- He traveled to Mexico and tried to persuade Santa Anna, but he was not convinced. -
The Consultation
Who- The group that wanted to continue diplomatic relations with Mexico, (led by Stephen F. Austin) and the faction that wanted to immediately declare independence. (Led by William Wharton and Henry Smith.)
What- They were debating over whether or not they should continue relations with Mexico.
Where- San Felipe.
When- Late October- early November in 1835.
Why- They were trying to figure out the purpose of the war, and how powerful the government was.
How- By holding the Consultation. -
