    Started when the government of Massachusetts wanted to raise taxes instead of issuing paper money to pay off its debts, taxes fell on the farmers and those who couldn’t pay lost their farms. Shay organized a group of farmers to seize weapons before marching to Boston, General Benjamin Lincoln sent 4,000 men to defend the arsenal, opening fire and killing 4 farmers, everyone left immediately, the next day Lincoln officially ended the rebellion.
