    Treaty of Paris (ending the French and Indian war)
    The end of the French and Indian war. This war resulted in the British winning the Ohio river valley from the French.

    The Sugar Act
    The British needing money after the Seven Year’s War with the French decided that taxing the place they fought to defend was a good idea. So they tax all imports of sugar and glucose to the colonies. The colonists not liking the taxes protested the Sugar Act and in response the British lowed the tax and all was well.

    The colonists sick of British tax’s boycotted British goods because their money speaks louder than their words.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British passed the stamp act to regain some of the money lost in the French and Indian war. The Stamp Act itself put a tax on all paper good imported to the Colonies.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was imposed by the British on the Colonists, so the Act itself made the Colonists open their homes to the British soldiers and provide them food and shelter if need be.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress
    Due to all of the colonists hating the Stamp Act the 9 out of the 13 colonies sent representatives to figure out what they were going to do about it. They came to an agreement and sent this agreement to the King of England where it was ignored. Even though this meeting failed its extend purpose this was one of the first time the colonies came together as one thus setting the example that it can happen.

    Due to the colonies resistance surrounding The Stamp Act the British chose to repeal the act.

    Though the British just repealed The Stamp Act they weren’t going to let the Americans do whatever they wanted, so they passed The Declaratory Act which gave the British full power and authority over the colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    The British taxed the colonies when buying white lead, paper, paint, glass and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British gun down 5 Americans in Boston only worsening the tensions between the two countries. Also one of the men killed was an African American named Crispus Attucks.
  • Committees of Correspondence

    Committees of Correspondence
    The first one created by Samuel Adams in 1772, were groups of people who wanted to keep the resistance to British policy alive in the Americas.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    Boston men dresses up as Indians boarded British ships in the Boston harbor and dumped 342 crates of tea into the Boston harbor.
  • The Boston Port Act

    The Boston Port Act
    The British responding to the tea party passed laws that closed the Boston harbor until damages were payed for. This was one of the many acts passed on Boston in response to the Tea Party those acts including Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justin Act, Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act. All of these acts are also knows as the Intolerable Acts.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Was a meeting for the Colonies where they discussed what they were going to do about the British and how they were going to do it. Only one colony didn’t have a representative at this congress and that was Georgia. This is where John Adams’s swayed the colonies into the revolutionary path.
  • Creation of the Association

    Creation of the Association
    Called the colonies to follow three new rules non importation, non consumption, and non exportation of British goods. The men inside the Association only sought to reverse the taxes placed upon them.
