  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    King George's declaration to the colonist to not expand past the Appalachian Mountains. This upset the colonist because they wanted to continue the expansion to the west. The British however didn't want to upset the French.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Britain's attempt to profit off of the sugar industry in the Americas. It taxed sugar, wine, coffee, ect.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This Act issued to the colonies that all printed documents (Newspaper, legal documents, playing cards, etc.) had to have a revenue stamp. It had to be paid for in British currency. This was hated by the colonists because of the phase 'Taxation without Representation'
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    What the British thought would help collect taxes. Enraged the American Colonist and lead to the Boston Massacre of 1770.
