    Diet of Worms

    At the Diet of Worm Martin Luther was tried for Hersay by Charles V. After refusing to recant his works he was declated a heretic and was excommunicated from the Catholic by Pope Leo X. Fedrick III hide Martin Luther in Wartburg Castle.

    While at Wartburg Castle Luther translated the bible into German. He also published his New Testiment translation while in hiding.

    William Tyndle, another major reformer, burned at the stake for Hersy. His final words were: "Lord! Open the king of Englands eyes!"

    Martin Dies

    Martin Luther died at age 62, in Eisleben, Germany. His final words: "We are beggers: this is true."

    The Council of Trent

    The 19th Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church is held to reform and clarify doctrine. It rejected Protestantism and lead to the issuing of a Catechism in 1566. (It Lasted for 17 years)
