Civil War Ending
The Civil War ended on this day. It was a huge war that was fought in order for the union to stop slavery and reconnect the country, by any means nessecary. Americans fought against each other to keep their own cultures alive. This event profoundly affected our countries views, hopes, and fears. -
14th Ammendment Ratified
This ammendment allowed for any person to be allowed citizenship was living inside or moved to America. This was extremely beneficial for any immigrant who wanted to live in America and be a part of our lifestyle. Since this ammendment countless people have came to America and become part of the nation. This favored immigration. -
Adoption of Yellowstone National Park
The sighning in of Yellowstone by Ulysses S. Grant was the first national park to be created. In the park, there are huge amounts of volcanic lava under the surface of earth and many diverse plants/animals. These needed to be protected, so the president made the area into a national park, which is the first the U.S. sees. -
Immigration expanding Industrialization
During the 1880's many Immigrants came over to America and strated working inside of the factories and cities. Since there was a massive influx of people willing to work, the employers could offer every job up for a lower cost. Meaning that wages were lower and many new jobs opened up. -
Jesse James murdered by Bob Ford
Jesse James was a hearty gang member who was very prominent inside of the James-Younger Gang. He robbed banks all across Minnesota, including the National Bank. The Pinkerton National Detective Agency was formed from the Adams Express Company, Bob Ford killed Jesse before an attempted robbery and claimed the money for himself. -
Chinese Exclusion Act
The government swore in this new act to limit the amount of Chinese immigrants who were allowed to come to America. This greatly influenced the "free" aspect of America and its job market. This was the first time the government set up a restriction on a ethinicity from joining the U.S. -
The Brooklyn Bridge opens
After 13 long years of working on the bridge, it was finally finished and ready for use. Many modern marvels were completed during the Industrialization days of American history and the Brooklyn's bridge was one of these marvels. It is a spectacle to see and helps many people commute daily. -
Foran Act established
The Foran Act or otherwise called the Alien Contract Labor Law stated that it would be unwise to allow any alien or aliens into the U.S. borders. This was a hard act to understand, since many of the Americans were immigrants or at least their ancestry came from immigration. A ton of immigrants were not allowed inside the U.S. while this act was active. -
The First Transcontinental Railroad is built
The Transcontinental Railroad was a major developement for all kinds of things inside of the U.S. Immigration was vastly increased due to hte ability for people to travel to one end of America to the other. This let many immigrants decide where they wanted to go and allowed them to move more freely across America. -
Wouded Knee Massacre
The U.S. 7th Calvalry Regiment fired on innocent native indians who had done nothing wrong. A total of over 150 men women and children died in the fighting that ensued. This caused many Americans to notice the brutality of our own government and is now a symbolic area dedicated to peace between Indians and Americans. -
Alfred Nobel dies
Alfred Nobel was the man who created dynamite. Which was used highly in the making of tunnels and blasting holes for railroad tracks. This was a day to mourn, since Alfred helped contruction sites and trains grow exponentially. Literally shaping our country into what we know and see today. -
Theodore Roosevelt becomes the president
Theodore Roosevelt was a "cowboy" kind of man, who took the people's views into account. Teddie started out democratically and worked toward giving less of a monopoly to giant corporations. He worked for the poorer class who couldn't get a word in and change anything. This helped shape how bussines is conducted today. -
Henry Ford makes Model T
When Henry ford made his Model T, it revolutionized the American lifestyle, causing many people to be able to buy a car. Which caused the normal middle class to drastically change how they moved from place to place, now they could drive. A faster easier alternitive, that was much quicker in traveling to different places. -

The first World War strated today. Ahuge war that affected the entire world. One that changed the humans greatly and caused America to leave its depression and become a superpower.
