The First Crusade
Armies of Muslims and Christians fought for control of the Holy Land (Jerusalem). The Christians won this Crusade, which lasted until 1099 -

The Second Crusade
The Christians (German and French) called for another Crusade in which they fought against the Muslims (Turkish and Syrian). Together, the groups of Muslims defeated the Christians in this Crusade which lasted until December of 1149. -
Sep 1, 1191
The Third Crusade
Jerusalem's troops attempted to take out the Christian army in 1187, which led to the Third Crusade in 1191. The was only one battle, and the leaders of each army signed a peace treaty in 1192. -
Jan 1, 1198
The Fourth Crusade
Pope Innocent III called for a Fourth Crusade in 1198, though it didn't actually occur until early 1204. The Crusaders declared war on Constantinople, and this Crusade ended with the conquest of the Byzantine Empire. -
Jan 1, 1216
The Fifth Crusade
This Crusade was against enemies of the Christian faith, not just Muslims. The Crusaders attacked Egypt from both sides, but had to surrender to the Muslims. This Crusade lasted until 1221. -
Jan 1, 1229
The Sixth Crusade
A peace treaty was made between the Muslim and Christian leaders, putting the Christians in control of Jerusalem. After 10 years, the treaty was over and the Muslims took control of Jerusalem again. This crusade ended in 1239. -
Nov 1, 1239
The Seventh Crusade
The Crusaders tried to gain control of some of the Holy Land, and they succeeded in getting land, but it was lost again shortly after. This Crusade ended in 1241. -
Jan 1, 1249
The Eighth Crusade
King Louis IX led a Crusade against Egypt, which was not a success, and ended similarly to the Fifth Crusade. This Crusade ended in late 1250. -
Jan 1, 1290
The Final Crusade
A fleet of warships from Venice arrived at the Crusaders' capital of Acre. After a few weeks, the Crusaders were defeated and the Crusades were finally considered over after 2 centuries of fighting. This Crusade was considered over in late 1291.
