Adolf Hitler was born
Adolphus Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, in the town of Braunau, Austria. His fathers name was Alois Hitler, and he was a Austrian civil servant. His mother, Klara Hitler, would give birth to four children. Adolf Hitler was the only one of four to live past the age of two. This event was important, because this man would forever change history later in life (Giblin 4). -
The Eiffel Tower is completed
In 1890, the Eiffel Tower is completed in Paris, France. The Eiffel tower stands at 1063 feet tall and is a symbol of France itself. This event is important because the Eiffel tower would become a huge tourist attraction. It would become one of the tallest and most famous structures in the world (Schulman). -
Young Hitler finishes primary school
Adolf Hitler was 11 years old when he finished primary school in 1900. He was said to be a mediocre student who wouldn't make a full use of his talents. His father was especially strict about his report cards. If young Hitler brought home a poor report card, he was often whipped or beat. When Adolf's half-brother ran away, even more of his fathers rage was directed towards him. This event was important because it was a significant part of his childhood (Giblin 6). -
Wright brothers make first successful flight
In Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright brothers make the first controlled and sustained flight. This was done in a power driven airplane on a windy day at the beach. The first try lasted only 12 seconds, but by the fourth try, they covered 852 feet in 59 seconds. This event was important because it was a huge step for Americas technology and transportation (Infoplease). -
The Titanic sinks
On April 15th, 1912, the Titanic sank into the Atlantic ocean. This was said to be the fasted ship afloat and nearly unsinkable. There were about 2,200 passengers on board when this tragic event occurred. It crashed into an iceberg South of Newfoundland and over 1,500 drowned. This event was important because it wouldn't only be a terrible moment in history for Americans but also the British (Infoplease). -

Hitler serves in World War I
Adolf Hitler was a rather odd soldier, for he was sloppy and unmilitary bearing. As a dispatch runner, his job was to take messages back and forth from the command staff in the rear of the fighting units. Hitler never complained about bad food or horrible conditions, unlike his friends, and preferred to talk about art and history rather than women. On October 7th, 1916, Hitler was hospitalized in Germany from a shell fragment. This event was important because it gave Adolf a military experience. -
Women get the right to vote
In the United States of America, women get the right to vote. Men always have had more power than women in America. In 1920, women gain more rights and can vote. This event was important because it would change America forever (Rice 1). -
The Nazi Party was formed
In 1920, the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party) was formed. Adolf Hitler was 30 years old when he began the effort to make the party succeed. He was part of a seven member committee which was a huge part of the party. The party would have monthly meetings,and at first only a few people would attend. By October 16th, there was over a hundred people at the meeting. Hitler would make speeches and shock the crowd. This was an important event because it would lead to Hitlers power. -
Hitler is named leader of the Nazi Party
In July of 1921, Adolf Hitler is named leader of the Nazi Party. He was a very effective speaker in front of large crowds. During that summer, he had traveled to Berlin to visit nationalist groups. While he was away, a revolt started up in his own Nazi party. He hurried back and announced his resignation from the party. This made the people worried. So, Hitler said he would come back only if he was granted more power. This event gave Hitler experience of being a leader(World History Project 1). -
Great Depression starts
In the year 1929, the U.S. stock market crashes leading to the Great Depression. This caused many people to lose there jobs and became poor. Many banks closed, and people were not able to get money out to buy food. This event was important because after it was over it helped the U.S. recover and improve (Rice 1). -
Hindenburg appoints Hitler Chancellor of Germany
On January 30th, 1933, Adolf Hitler is sworn in as Chancellor of Germany. Observers describe the ceremony to be simple and brief. Hitlers first speech as Chancellor took place on February 10th. He appointed the Reichssicherheitsdienst as his personal body gaurds. This event was important because it was a part of Adolf Hitlers rise to power (World History Project 1). -
Adolf Hitler becomes Fuhrer of Germany
On August 2nd of 1934, Hindenburg dies and Adolf Hitler takes over as Fuhrer. To make sure he was in absolute power, Hitler dissolved the offices of chancellor and president. An oath was taken by the members of Germany's armed forces stating absolute obedience to Hitler. This event is important because it is when Adolf Hitler gains absolute control (World History Project 2). -
Germany attacks Poland starting WWII
On September 1st, 1939, Germany carries out the plan "Fall Weiss", attacking Poland and starting WWII. The main attack came from the Germany mainland through the western Polish border. The second attack was from the north, and the third was a tertiary attack was joined with Slovak allies. These attacks caused Polish forces to abandon their forward bases. This event was important because it marks the beginning of World War II (World History Project 3). -
The concentration camp, Auschwitz, is established.
On April 27th, 1940, Auschwitz is established. Auschwitz was Nazi Germany's largest concentration camp built. It was established in Oswiecim for the roadways and railroads. At the Nuremberg Trials, it was determined that over three million people had died in the camp. This event was important because Auschwitz would become a symbol of the Holocaust(World History Project 3). -
Japan bombs U.S. Pearl Harbor
In 1941, Japan drops bombs on United States Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This was a true moment of terror for the U.S. people. It was an unexpected attack that caused the deaths of many. This event was important because it started a huge conflict between the U.S. and Japan (Rice 1). -
Adolf Hitler dies
On April 30th, 1945, Adolf Hitler commits suicide. The Soviet troops were closing in on his headquarters when he shot himself in the temple while biting into a cyanide capsule. The remains of Hitler were disinterred, cremated and scattered into the Elbe river. This event was important because it marks the end of the terrible rulers rein (World History Project 5).
