Two main superpowers on winning side of WWII. Unites States vs. Soviet Union. (Democracy vs. Communist). Both countries worried that many newly independent countries would follow other opposite form of government. Domino effect would occur. -
Korean War Begins
United States involement was in The Korean War was a direct result of The Cold War.
North Korea was communist backed by Soviets. South Korea was democracy, backed by United States. -
Korean War Ends
Korean War ends with Korean Armistice Agreement. The north would remain communist, the south would remain democracy. Each would exist as seperate countries. -

Civil War. North Vietnam communists. South Vietnam democratic.

In exchange for support, Cuba agrees to have Russain nuclear missile's in Cuba, pointed at United States. -

Terroists Attack United States
Al Queda, ran by Bin Laden, issues war against U.S. 4 planes hijacked. Two ran into World Trade Centers in NYC. 1 hit Pentagon. 4th plane overtaken and crashed in field. Aimed for military, government and commerce. Symbolized an attack on global commerce dominated by the west. -
2nd Persian Gulf War Begins
U.s accuses Saddam Hussein of harboring WMD's. Only U.S and Britain invade. Kill Hussein, no weapons found. -
