First Settlers

The Aztec people were kicked from their homes and had to find a new place to live. They were told that they could go to the Valley of Mexico to live, but when they go there, many people were already living there. They traveled and wondered until they found a new place to make a new city.

Aztec Civilization

The Aztec people moved to Mexico in 600 A.D, they lived there and around that area for over 920 years.

Mexicas

Jan 1, 1100

The people called the Mexicas move into this land, they called themselves the Mexicas before the Aztecs. When they were searching for a place to live, they saw a eagle sitting upon a cactus with a snake in its mouth. To them, this was a sign to build their city here.

Successful City

Period: Jan 1, 1100 to Jan 1, 1521

The Aztec built and created a beautiful, successful, and very advenced city. After the city was built, many people would come to live in it; as the population grew, the city had to expand. In the end, the city turned out as a very large and beautiful city, that some people had only dreams of living in.

Montezuma I becames Ruler

Jun 3, 1440

Montezuma I became the fifth ruler of the Aztec people in 1440, under his care, the city flourished and grew. He ruled for 25 years until he died in 1469.

Ahuizotu becomes Ruler

Jan 1, 1486

In 1486 after Montezuma I died, Ahuizota became ruler for 16 years.

Montezuma II becomes Ruler

Jan 1, 1502

Montezuma II becomes the ruler of the Aztec, and the Aztec reach its highest point in empire.

Mysterious Omens

In 1509 mysterious omens start appearing. One of the omens was a comet. They Aztec people start to question if the omens are sending a message.

Cortes leaves Cuba

Cortes leaves Cuba, but comes back later. After he comes back...

Cortes Returns

Mar 1, 1519

Cortes returns back to Cuba and kidnap Montezuma II. Soon after, Montezuma calls off the war that they have going on with the Spanish.

Montezuma II is Killed

May 1, 1519

Monetezuma is killed right after he calls off the war with his people.

Small Pox

Jun 1, 1519

A large wave of small pox ravages the population of the Aztec. This kills of a large percent of the population.

Cortez besieges Tenochtitlan

Apr 3, 1521

Tenochtitlan Surrenders to Cortes and he is Victorious

Aug 1, 1521

Tenochtitlan was rebuilt and renamed Mexico City, this became the capital of New Spain
