District 12 Reaping Day
74th annual Hunger Games Reaping in District 12 where one boy tribute and one girl tribute are chosen. Prim Everdeen's name is called, and Katniss Everdeen, her sister, volunteers to take her place. Peeta Mellark is the boy chosen as the male tribute. -
Katniss Arrives at the Capitol
Katniss & Peeta arrive at the capitol. They are soon sent to their stylists who don't create the average "coal mining look" that district 12 normally has. They create a fire allusion, and this is where Katniss gets the "Girl on Fire" nickname. -
First Day in Training
Katniss & Peeta arrive in the training center where they work on their skills. At the end of several days of this, all tributes are individually judged as a estimate of their chances in the Hunger Games and a ranking against other tributes. Katniss gets a high ranking and Peeta gets a decent one, too. -
The Interviews
All tributes are individually interviewed before the Hunger Games begin. This gives the capitol a chance to "choose their favorites and for sponsors to get an idea of who they might want to help out. In Peeta's interview, he reveals his love for Katniss. -

The first day of the 74th annual Hunger Games. -
Hunger Games cont., The Fire
Katniss did not team up with anyone yet, and while searching for water and high grounds, a fire that drove her away from the edge of the map burned her leg. -
Hunger Games cont., Trackerjacker Nest
After being followed and chased up a tree by a group of tributes, Katniss spends the night in a tree while the group sleeps on the ground below her, waiting for her to come down. When Katniss wakes up, a young tribute named Rue helps her spot a trackerjacker nest that the cuts down so it falls on the group below her, causing them to scatter. -
Hunger Games cont., Rue's Death
After the trackerjacker nest, Rue and Katniss team up for food and create a plan to blow up the big group of tribute's food & supplies stash. The stash is blown up, but Rue is caught by a trap while the plan is being carried out and ends up dying. Katniss is upset by this and covers her in flowers. -
Hunger Games cont., Katniss finds Peeta
It is announced that there can now be two winners to the Hunger Games if they are both from the same district. Immediately, Katniss begins to search for Peeta and finds him camoflauged in the mud by the river with an injured leg. She brings him to a safe place and they team up to care for each other in hopes they can both be victors. -
Hunger Games cont., The Berries
After the last tribute other than Katniss & Peeta is killed, it is announced that there can now only be one victor of the Hunger Games. In devestation, Katniss and Peeta agree to commit suicide by eating poisonous berries at the same time rather than kill one another. At the last second, the Capitol announces Katniss AND Peeta as the 74th Annual Hunger Games victors! -
The Victor's Interview
After the Hunger Games, Katniss & Peeta go in for an interview. After this, they return to District 12 on the train.
