There is an electric fence at the edge of the forrest that is supposed to keep people out of the woods, but because electricity is scarce in District 12, there are periods of time when the fence is safe to touch. Katniss knows she has to find a place to camp that she can't easily get killed by animals or the other tributes. She sets a trap about five minutes away to where she decides to camp, She picks a tree that is just right for her and climbs up. Katniss understands that if she can drop the dangerous wasp nest on them, that will give her enough time to escape from the careers waiting to kill her below the tree she is in. Katniss is awoken by a forest fire caused by the gamemakers. She quickly climbs down from her tree she has spent the night in, and runs away from the fire. She pulls the backpack up to protect the back of her head right when another knife flies and sticks into the backpack.

Helped by Rue, Katniss finds a Tracker Jacker nest, high up in her tree. The Tracker Jackers have a very deadly and hallucinogenic poison in their stingers, so she carefully and quietly makes her way up the tree to their nest. Katniss waits until the athem plays and then quickly starts to cut at the branch holding the hive. The anthem ends and Katniss is forced to wait for another chance to begin cutting again. Finally she cuts the branch and the hive falls on the people below.

Katniss recognizes one of the voices as Peeta and she begins to wonder if he really joined the careers. Thresh towers above Katniss, Clove is stuck in his arms, he throws Clove to the ground, she pleads for him to stop but he kills her with a rock. He the turns to Katniss who explains about Rue, Thresh spares Katniss and says theyre even. -

Fight At The Cornucopia - ka6273
Katniss and Peeta are off on their own when they hear someone coming through the woods, followed by Cato running as fast as he can right past them. They figured out the reason Cato was running so fast is because right behind him ran muttations. They began to run towards the cornucopia as fast as they can and climb up on top of it. Cato has a hold of Peeta when Katniss shoots an arrow at Cato's hand making him fall to the ground.

Katniss wakes up, weak and dizzy to find Peeta nursing her. He feeds her and tells her to rest. He doesn't appear mad at her for drugging him. It's raining outside, which Katniss knows is probably aimed at Cato and Thresh. She tells Peeta about everything that happened at the Cornucopia, including Thresh letting her go because he owed her a debt. -

Katniss and Peeta go out the cave and Peeta finds some berries and offers Katniss some and she rememeber that her father said they were poisnious and tells Peeta not to the eat them. -
