    In 1980, computers started to be used as an educational tool due to the price, size, and ease of use (Reiser, 2001).
  • Wikis

    Ward Cunningham is credited with creating and coming up with the term wiki. A wiki is a web page that can be edited by anyone (Weller, 2018).
  • Distance Learning

    During this time, distance learning gained popularity due to the increasing interest in the internet (Reiser, 2001).
  • E-learning

    Due to the interest in E-learning, more effort was invested to create platforms that could easily run e-learning programs and a better approach to create and share e-learning content (Weller, 2018). Colleges and universities started adopting E-learning programs.
  • Learning Management System (LMS)

    The LMS created a solution for e-learning providers. The LMS allowed e-learning to be implemented quickly across an institution (Weller, 2018).
  • Web 2.0

    The term "web 2.0" gained popularity in 2006. Web 2.0 is used to describe the internet. Examples are Youtube, Flickr, and blogs (Weller, 2018). Even after gaining popularity, web 2.0 was considered dead in 2009.
  • E-Learning Take off

    About 90% of corporations use E-Learning (Tamm, 2021). The ease and flexibility on online learning is what draws people/ companies to online learning.
