The Egyptians door
The Egyptians had two kinds of doors,the first was a door that they painted on tombs that was supposed to be a door way to the afterlife for the person in the tomb.The second door was a false door,false doors were carvings or paintings on walls.The false doors were also a way to get to the afterlife but they were used by spirits.They were used so spirits could enter and exit. -

first automatic door
The first recorded automatic door was created 1st century AD during the era of Roman Egypt by a Greek scholar known as Heron of Alexandria.He made a door opener that used heat and pneumatic's to open a set of temple doors. -
200 BCE
The Janus door
In Roman religion there was a god, named Janus the god of doors.Because of this they made a Janus door,the door was made of bronze and was a sliding or folding door.This door would be closed at times of peace and open at times of war.(The picture is of a coin with door on it). -

12th century Notre Dame door
In the 12th century a door was made with rings outside the hanging stiles fitting on to vertical tenons run into the masonry or wooden frame.This door was featured on the famous Notre Dame in Paris,France.But this door can also be found without England as well. -

The Chinese's door
In the 17th century Chinese created the first foot-sensor-activated door during the reign of Emperor Yang of Sui, ruling from 604 to 618(he had one installed to his royal library). -
1931 door
In 1931, two engineers Horace H. Raymond and Sheldon S. Roby designed the first model of a device triggering the opening of an automatic door. The invention was patented and installed in a restaurant. -
1954 door
In 1954, Dee Horton and Lew Hewitt invented the first sliding automatic door. The door used a mat actuator. In 1960, they co-founded Horton Automatics Inc and placed the automatic sliding door on the market.
