The Stamp Act is the first direct tax on the colonies, and is used to pay for the cost of the British military stationed in America. It is met with a greater resistance and more support of the phrase "No taxation without representation". This tax makes it so that you have to buy a stamp and put it on every document that you buy.

The Quartering Act goes into effect in the colonies, which requires residents to provide housing, clothing, food, Etc. Just imagine that a soldier walked into your home and forced you to give him what he wants or you would go to jail. The soldiers basically treated the residents as slaves.
