The Second Act of Supremacy
After the original Act of Supremacy was repealed in 1554 by Mary I, his Catholic daughter, a new set of acts was put into place. These laws required anyone taking public or church office to swear allegiance to the Monarch. Anyone who refused the oath was put to death. -
