Columbus 's arrivel
Columbus arrived in America.
He thought he had discovered a new continent and called it "The New World". Natives and inhabitants had known of the continent for at least 20.000 years. -

Encomienda-System
The Encomienda System was a rule that Conquistadores got land with all the Indians on it. Officially they weren't slaves but they were forced to work for people without getting money for it.Normally the Conquistadores had the function to protect & to make them catholic the Indians but the Indians were exploit by the people and sometimes even dispatched. After a while the male slaves were exterminated and then the Spanish conquistadores imported slaves from Africa.All this was illegal. -

The conquest of the aztec empire
In 1519 " Hernan Cortez " tries to conquer the aztec empire with 500 men. He and his "crew " arrive at the opening of the river "Tabaco ". This is the beginning of colonisation through the spanish. Now they call there conquest "mexico". For them it is the most important conquest. Spanish settler become big parts of land. They call them "Haziendas". Natives work for them as slaves. -

Hernando Cortés
The Spanish Hernando Cortés landed in San Juan de Ulloa and started conquering Tenochtitlán. See also 1521, when Technotitlán was finally conquered. -

Tenochtitlan and Foundation of New Spain
Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, is the largest city in the world, with a population of over 500,000 people. Because of a treaty with Ixtlilxochitl,The Spanish could easily prepare an attack on Tenochtitlan and after they bared the city which was only achievable over three dams, they broke the catering. The spanish leaguer on Tenochtitlan begins. And so New Spain,the colony of Spain, was founded. -

New Spain was founded in 1535. New Spain included the Spanish East Indies (Philippine Islands, Guam, the Caroline Islands, Taiwan, Sabah, and parts of the Moluccas) and the Spanish West Indies (Cuba, Hispaniola with Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Trinidad, and the Bay Islands). -

The first cities were founded in 1559 - for example "Pensacola" by the Spaniards. At that time the nativ people had lived there under the administration of the Spanish. So the Spanish had the power to rule. -

Junta de Hacienda de Indias
Junta de Hacienda de Indias is Spanish and means council of the collection office of the Indians. This aggregation looked after the economic situation of the colonial country New Spain.Later in 1597 they also founded a Junta De Guerra des Indias for military defending. -

In 1564 the French foundet the city called "Fort Caroline". This city also belongs to one of the first in Mexico. -
Epedemics
Around 1600 two epedemics spread over Mexico.Smallpox, which also swept through Mexico in 1520 and Thypus. -
Santa Fe
Pedro de Peralta, a later governor of the Province of New Mexico, established the settlement of Santa Fe in the region of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on the Rio Grande. -
Indian population reduced
Between 1521 and 1650 the indian population was radical reduced because of the many fights between the Spanish colonialists and the Indians. -
Slavery in Mexico
In 1659 many native Americans were sold as slaves along the Rio Grande and sent south to work in silver mines in Zacatecas. -
Pueblo Revolt
The Spanish carry on to eradicate the Pueblos peoples' traditions, culture and religion. In this year the Pueblo Revolt takes place in the Province of New Mexico: Many pueblos rise up against Spanish colonalization. The results are land grants (Landzuweisung) to each Pueblo, a public defender for their right in Spanish courts. -
Royal Absolution
The Spanish king wants all the people in the colonies to speak Spanish. Schools were built and bishops need to control the language problem. Especially the Native Americans were forced to learn the Spanish language. -
Mexico gets independent
In this year the Mexico starts to get independent. A long war succeeds and in 1823 Mexico gets a Republic.
