The First Vatican Council was run by the Pope Pius IX, The pope ran these meetings for contemporary problems. The pope was referring to the rising influence of rationalism, liberalism, and materialism. 744 people attended these meetings. -

The council of trent was a Roman Catholic Church, This was run by the Protestant reformation community. Paul III was the pope at the time which started the Trent. Charles V had wanted abuses looked at first in an attempt to please the Protestants and hopefully tempt them back to the church. -

Martin Luther’s Publication of 95 Theses is when Martin goes to the church and nails to the door. It contains the 95 revolutionary opinions and arguments against the practices of the Roman Catholic Church such as the indulgences. This significant event led towards the Protestant Reformation. -

The Plague is a desease came through fleas and rats that spread the epidemic of the plague throughout eroupe. This made the people wonder that if there was a " God " or if they where being punish for there sins. This also caused people to turn to the church for forgivness and turn away from the chuch becuase they had died. People used to walk through the streets and flog them self to punish. If the desease chatched on to them they where to die within 3 - 4 days. -

East-West Schism 1054 A.D
The East and West schism is also called the Great Schism, The schism started from when Christianty split and which now became Eastern Orthodox and Catholic Churches. which split in the 11th century. The church split becuase of the differences that led to a big spiritual fight. Some of the differences include power of the pope, the worship of icons and put down dates in the liturgical calendar. This has cause to major branches of christianity. -

The Council of Chalcedon 451 A.D.
The Council of Chalcedon addresed the issue whether or not if jesus is human or divine. They worked towards finding the right language to use when talking about the two nature of jesus. Though from this council the church leaders found that Jesus is both human and divine through the holy spirit, we as Christian's cannot fully understand this mystery. -

Peace of Augsburg is when the prince was to since a treaty deciding whether the official religion of the roman Empire was going to be protestant or roman catholic, this gave away luthar to leave and not be apart of the Roman Catholic Church
