Antisipation
The Japanese planes attacked a US naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The attack was about two hours long. The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight enormous battleships, and almost 200 airplanes. Starting World War ll. Only two hours changed my life and many others, Just two. I was just walking about my day with everybody cheerful and having a great day. Randomly a plane just comes and changed everybodys moods dramatically. Nothing was the same... -
The Proclamation
Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Presidential Proclamation No. 2525. The proclamation declared “all natives, citizens or subjects of the Empire of Japan” living in the U.S. and not naturalized to be restrained, secured, and removed as alien enemies. The proclamation was the most devestating thing that happened to me and my family. We had no connection to any native born Japanese friends. Yet we were considered a threat, but i was born in American. I was an American in my eyes and not a enemy. -

General DeWitt ,commander, carried out an evacuation within his command under the terms of the Executive Order 9066, which let military broad powers to ban any citizen from a fifty- to sixty-mile-wide costal wide. I dont know why they're are making me leave. i was born here, and theyre are making me and my family gone. what did i do? i have been on American land for 45 years, all my life. Do they not trust me? -
temporarily
Strategic areas in west were in effect for all Japanese. WCCA acquires sites for temporary detention centers in California at Merced, Tulare, Marysville, and Fresno. I made a new friend today. Well, Not really. A bunch of new, well my parents called them "japs", came today. There was this little boy he seemed confused. Maybe he just didnt want to move? Although his parents seems angry and sad too. He just stared at me.Maybe he wanted to play and was too shy? i bet well become best friends soon -
Army?
The loyalty of all Japanese in the United States was questioned. Japanese Americans that were held in the incarceration camps, would be allowed to volunteer for a segregated U.S. Army unit. If they went or not decided whether they were loyal or not to the United States. I just turned 18 and really at the time had nothing going for me. I had the choice to be prisioned in these camps or to go help my country. Although, i was helping my country for all the wrong reasons. I went prove myself. -
Supreme court
The Supreme Court rules that a curfew may be imposed against a group of Americans citizens based solely on ancestry. Japenese beleived their loyalty to the U.S was unequestionable. Although the supreme court still imposed the curfew on us.
I know this is wrong to do. As Americans we need to stay together beause we are all considered American,Not because of race.Especially if they were born here. I think its that we are all scared. I know we are all scared. This isnt right, i need to do somthing. -
D-day
Allied landings in Normandy on the coast of northern France. 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of French coastline to fight Nazi Germany. D- day was a day of devastation but was long anticipated. The land invasions began at 6;30 am, and nobody knew what to do. My family and i were scared. We just wanted this to end, and everything to be done with. -
closed camps
The WRA announced that all internment camps would be closed before the end of 1945 and the entire WRA program would be liquidated on June 30, Is it true? we might be free. I really didnt have a reason to be here. Is it finally over. My heart is filled with excitment and joy. -
V-J Day
The emporer of Japan announced that the nation would surrender. General MacArthur formally accepted Japan's surrender aboard the battleship USS Missouri, anchorded in Tokyo Bay. WWII was finally over. V-J day was a good day to all Americans. It was over Japan has surrendered and i served my country. I was able to go back to my home with the people i love. Hopefully it goes all back to normal, but better. -
Except
All WRA Internment camps are closed except for Tule Lake Center. Over 12,000 imprisoned Japanese Americans were defined as disloyal because of their responses to the misguided loyalty questions. It isnt fair. I am stuck in this camp because i didnt want to serve and help fight. They believed i was being disloyal and wasnt being American. I needed to stay. My family would have been seperated and Nobody could take care of my dad. I just put my family first, and was punished for it.
