  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was passed to increase revenue and decrease debt from the French and Indian War. Anything that had sugar costs more and collects tax. The colonists were very angry and upset that sugar costs more. The colonists started smuggling sugar.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This act was passed because the colonists were complaining about the Sugar Act, so the came out with a tax that the colonists payed themselves.
  • Quatering Act

    Quatering Act
    The Quatering Act was passed so the British soldiers could have shelter to protect them from the French men and the Native Americans. Also, to protect the colonial interests. The act said that the colonists had to supply living quarters.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act was passed to stop smuggling. The act gave British soldiers more power to stop smuggling. The British soldiers could push and shove if the suspected smuggling.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act was passed to stop colonists from smuggling tea without a tax. The tax also helped the East Indian Company make more money. The British Parliament granted the East Indian Company a monopoly on sales.

    This act was passed because Britain was beginning to lose control of the colonies and to punish Massachusetts. The act says that nothing can be shipped from Massachusetts. Massachusetts lost a good amount of income from this.

    This act was passed because King George lll realized he was losing control of the thirteen colonies. The act said that no meeting shall be called without the leave of the governor. There was no representation of why the parliament did this.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act
    The Quebec Act was passed to extend the territory of Quebec. The act said that all land made apart of Newfoundland was going to be made apart of the province of Quebec. The parliament took the colonists land and made it their own.
