The west consists of the British, French and the US. The East is entirely Soviet, except for Berlin. It's split into four sectors respectively. -

An Interzonenpass (a pass valid for 30 days) is needed to travel between the sectors in Germany. -

There is a Currency Reformation in Berlin; the eastern and western parts of the city now use different forms of money. -
The Berlin Blockade Begins
The Soviet Union blocks all of the Western Allies' railroads, roads and canal access to the Eastern (Soviet) sector of Berlin. -
The Berlin Airlift Begins
Every hour, the Western Allies would fly and drop supplies in West Berlin in order to fight the blockade that cut off their food supply. -

The Western Powers waive the Interzonenpass, the Soviet Union follows but East German citizen need a permission to travel to the West -
Rules Change In East Germany
Leaving East Germany without permission is forbidden and violations are prosecuted with prison up to three years -
The Berlin sectorial border between East and West Berlin is closed
Barriers are Built -
All crossing points are closed for West Berlin citizens
