  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The act was passed to reduce the debt from the pass war. They tried to reduce the act by raising taxes on molasses and sugars. The money would then go to the king, his heirs, and his successors.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    It was passed to give the soldiers, who were defending the colonies from threats, a place to stay with the colonists. If the colonist refused to house the soldiers, they would be charged with criminal charges. While the soldiers were there their hosts would have to feed them and give a place to stay.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    It was passed because the prime minister heard the complaints coming from the colonists about the sugar act. So he decided to make The Stamp Act to make it more fair. The stamp act says that legal papers/documents are now taxed.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    It was passed because everyone agreed that The Stamp Act was illegal. It says that if the colonists refuse to open the door for the soldiers, they can break in and take the smuggled goods. Also, they taxed goods like: glass, red and white lead, painters colors, tea, and paper.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The act was passed to ease the tensions with the colonies. The act says that the British is going to repeal taxes on the imported goods, except the tea. And to buy tea you will need a licence to buy it.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    It was passed to help Britain Gain control of the colonies after the dumping of the tea. The act says that no one can import or export goods from the harbor of Boston. So this had the people of Boston go to other places to get some goods.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The act was passed to to gain allies. The act says that they and giving territories to the Quebec colonists in return for their alliance to the American colonists. It also gave more protection to the colonist because they don't have to worry about getting attacked from the northern colonists.
  • The Justice Act

    The Justice Act
    It was passed because King George the Third and the Prime Minister decided to punish the colonist because of the tea. It says that you can't hold a meeting without the consent of the governor. Also if a person riots or brings harm to other people they will loose their job and/or get a punishment.
