  • Battle of Coleto Creek

James Fannin and his men were retreating from the Mexicans, but Fannin, being the horrible leader he was, decided to stop in the middle of a clearing to let his cattle graze. There, they were surrounded by Mexican soldiers. They were taken captive and later executed. This happened on March 19, 1836.
  • Goliad Massacre

When James Fannin's troops were captured, along with himself, the Mexicans planned on executing them. They were tricked into thinking that they were going to do labor when they were halted and shot dead. There are rumors that some of the Texans escaped, but it is not confirmed. James Fannin's last request was completely ignored by the Mexicans, even mocked. This happened on March 27, 1836.
