    Cabeza de Vaca
    In 1528, Cabeza De Vaca shipwrcked on the island we all know today as Galveston, Texas. Cabeza De Vaca later explored the area of Texas on his way to Mexico after trading in the region for around six years

    Coronado

    Coronado
    Coronado led an expedition of over 1000 men to the now southwestern US/ northern texas to look for treasure at the fabled Seven Cities of Cibola but even after months of searching no riches were ever found.

    LaSalle
    In 1682 Sieur de LaSalle made his way down the Mississippi river claiming the entire area for France. In 1684 he set sail toward the mouth of the Mississippi to strengthen the grip on the region but instead overshot the area and landed in the Matagorda Bay in 1685 where he established fort St. Louis.

    Austin Grant
    he was elected to the territorial Legislature of Missouri in 1813 when we was twenty one years old and from then on achived amny great accomplishments for texas such as taking extended ventures to Mexico on Texas' behalf, being encoraging during the worst days of the revolution, and his difficult journeys in the United States to get needed support for his countrymen who were struggling.

    In 1824 The Constitution gave Mexico a republican form of government. Sadly it failed to define the rights of the states inside the republic, including Texas
  • Battle at Gonzales

    Battle at Gonzales
    preceding the war, the Texans laoded a cannon with scrap iron that the Mexican army donated to the city of gonzales for defense against Indians. they shot the cannon which was started the first battle of the revolution. After a little while of fighting the Mexicans retreated relating in vitory for the Texans. the battle had been symbolized by a white flag with a black cannon with the words "come and take it".

    General Santa Anna set a goal after loosing to the Texans in the Seige of Bexar. he was determined to win this next battle. for the follow weeks after the Texans took refuge at the mission you know as the alamo, Mexico continued to strengthen its over 2000 troops. It all ended march sixth when the Mexicans raided the Alamo when all of the Texan defenders were killed.

    A time of panic and horror when Santa Anna's troop abondoned their homes and ran South until they heard word of Texas's victory at San Jacinto. Rejoicing all the way back home, the members of the runaway scrape came home to repair the damage they left behind.
  • Massacare at Goliad

    Massacare at Goliad
    In 1836 General Santa Anna lead his force of 500 men through a route to San Antonio while Mexican General Jose Urrea passed though the cities of San Patrico and Refugio with his 900 men troop where the Mexans killed and captured 100s of people, though Santa Anna was infuriated that most people were taken prisoner. He ordered for them to be shot and his orders were carried out on Palm Sunday March 27th. It was only three weeks later when Texas sought their revenge.

    On the morning of April 21,1836, General Sam Houston's troop of 750 men woke bright and early to fight the enemy- General Santa Anna's troop of over 1500 men. Soon after the words "Remember the Alamo" were shouted by the Texans, the Battle began and 700 Mexicans were killed and atleast 750 taken as prisoners. Texas gained victory!

    a vote was held by the Secession Convention to decide whether or not the Texas should secede which they did. the results were 171 to 6
  • Battle of Galveston - the bayou city

    Battle of Galveston - the bayou city
    http://www.lsjunction.com/events/galvestn.htm (for further info) it all started with a short battle at sea which concluded with a half of a Texas vessel down. Further, the lone surviving Confederate Cottonclad, the Bayou City, was outnumbered six-to-one. it recovered and soon and the Confederates hit their targer with great precision. The island of Galvestion was recaptured by the confederacy with over 500 total captures and over 20 deaths.
