Austin Grant
Austin received land from the mexican goverment and started colonizing along the Brazon river. -
Mexican Independence
Near the end of the 18th century people from the New Spain started to rise up against Spain. In 1824 Mexico won their independence from Spain. -
Austin imprisoned
Austin was imprisoned in Mexico City for treason. Santa Ana and the mexican goverment believed Austin was a threat so they put him in jail. -
Battle at Gonzales
Colonal Ugartechea ordered a few men to Gonzales to take a canon that the town has for protection. The town realised they intended to use it against rebels so they denied the request and a battle was started. -
Battle of Alamo
The Battle of the Alamo started when the Mexican army attacked the Alamo. The texas army defended it. The seige lasted for 13 days against Santa Ana's army and then the next morning Santa Ana entered the alamo declaring hid victory. -

Texas secedes to join the confederacy because they are a slave state. Slave states felt very overwhelmed by the goverment anf felt that if they didn't become a new country their way of life would be changed. -
Battle of Galveston- The Bayou city
The union sailed into Galveston and demanded the Confederates and the people of galveston to surrender. They refused and a battle started. There were six union war boats and only two confederate boats. the Confederacy protected the city of galveston and won. 400 men from the union were killed or captured and only 26 killed and 117 wounded from the Conferacy.
