Coronado
Francisco Vasquez de Coronado led an expedition of 1,000 men to southwestern United States and northern Texas in search of treasure. He found no treasure and most men went back to Mexico. He and a smaller pack continued but found no treasure and then returned to Mexico. -

La Salle
Robert Cavalier, Sieur La Salle, established Fort St. Louis, and claimed France's claim to Texas. He was murdered by his own men two years later. -

Austin Grant
In 1821 the mexican government gave Moses Austin permission to go with other anglo-Americans to northern Mexico. -
Mexican Independence
In 1824 Mexico formed a constitution which gave Mexico a republican form of government and defined the rights of the states within the repubic. -
Austin Imprisoned
Mexican President Santa Ana threw Stephen F. Austin in prison on suspicion of inciting insurrection when he presented a new constitution and other demands from the Texas people. He was released eight months later. -
Battle at Gonzales
Mexican authorities sent a force of 100 men to retrieve a cannon that helped residents of Gonzales defend against indians. Texans loaded the cannons with iron scrap and aimed it at the Mexicans. The battle flag used by the Texans said "Come and Take it". -
Battle of Alamo
After losing at San Antonio, Santa Ana was determined to pull out a victory. He led 2000 men to a pack of about 200 Texans who were gathered at an old mission house called the Alamo.He and his men stormed the Alamo and killed all the defenders. -
Runaway Scrape Begins
The Runaway Scrape was a period of time where Santa Ana and Mexican armies invaded Texas unstoppably. The colonists gathered a couple of belongings and fled. -
Massacre at Goliad
In the Massacre at Goliad nearly 400 men were slaughtered by Santa Anna. -
Battle at San Jacinto
In the Battle of San Jacinto, Sam Houston met Mexican forces and Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto. After Texas' victory in one of the most decisive battles it garunteed independence. -
Texas Joins the United States
James Polk signed Texas into the United States of America to be the 28th state. -
Texas Secedes and Joins the Confederacy
When Texas seceded from the United States and join the Confederacy the vote to secede was 171 to 6. -
Battle of Galveston
In the Battle of Galveston the Unoin had six boats and the Confederacy had two boats. quickly one Confederate boat sunk and The Bayou City, a confederate gunboat, was left alone. It ended up sinking all of the Union boats.
