The Europeans explored because they were looking for god, gold, glory. When Columbus was looking for America he hoped to find a sea passage to Asia. The countries most explorers were from are Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. A conquistador is a conqueror. Cortes tore down Tenochtitlan and founded New Spain. -

Pineda led lots of people to map the Western Coast lines of the Gulf of Mexico. He traveled through the Mexican Gulf. -

Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecks
The tribe that took Cabeza de Vaca was either Atakapans or the Karankawas. Hunger and diseases killed many of the Native Americans. People treated Cabeza de Vaca as a loyal guest. -

Coronado sets out for Cibola
Cibola is the fabled Seven cities of Gold. The stories from Cabeza de Vaca lead Cornado to believe the Seven Cities of Cibola are there. They didn't have any success finding Cibola. He discovered the Grand Canyon. -
La Salle lands in Texas
The country challenging Spain for Texas were the French. La Salle discovered the Mississippi River. -
Fort St. Loius founded
Fort St. Louis is near Arenosa Creek and Motagorda Bay, Texas. La Salle founded the fort. He failed because shelter was hard to find and food was scarce. La Salle got killed by murder. -
Mission San Fransisco founded
The missions purpose was to convert Indians into Catholic Spanish citizens. People called friars led the missions. Spain was responsible for building the missions. The missions religion was Catholic. The missions failed because of disease and hunger. Presidios protected the mission. -
Marques de Rubi Inspects Texas
Rubi's mission was to report about the missions in Texas. The Spanish Crown told him to report about the missions. His recommendations were to build a string to California and pull back from Texas. -

The purchase caused the territories of America to touch Spain's land. The three countries were France, Spain, Brittian. -
Philip Nolan Expedition
Filibusters are people that fight to secede from the country. Some other Fillibusters are James Wilkinson and Augustus Magee. Jean Lafitte was a pirate that was French and was a filibuster. -
Moses Austin ask Permission for Colony
The Spanish agreed to let Stephen F. Austin have the colony because that would mean the Spanish would get more people. The Spanish would teach the people to speak there language and be catholic. He got phenomena and died while walking on a cold night. -
Mexico gains Independence
Mexico gained their independence from Spain. They established the Fedral Constitution of the United Mexican states for Mexico. Texas was also joined with Tamiulapas. -
Stephen F. Austin establishes his Colony
An empisarrio is a person who had been granted permission to let people settle in the Mexican land to exchange recruiting and taking up new responsibilities of the new settlers. The colony was south of the Branzos River. They had to be Catholic, have a job, and speak Spanish. The Old 300 were the people granted to come settle in the Colony. Some of the people complained about the rules of being Catholic and not having a church. Haden Edwards and Benjamin Edwards were empasarrios. -
Fredonian Rebillion
The goal of the Fredonian Rebillion was to secede from Mexico. The Edwards brothers were upset with the Mexicans. The Rebillion ended by over 100 soldiers to be marched into Nagadoches and many participants fled. -

The goal was to inspect the missions of Texas. He was sent to inspect. Makes sure everyone is following the rules. -
Law of April, 6 1830 Passes
The law said to raise the taxes higher and to ban U.S. immigration. It also said farmers can not get new slaves. Emparsarios had to sign a contract . A certain amount of forts had to be made. -
Convention of 1833
The convention was to tighten their control. William H. Wharton lead this. -
Austin Arrested
Austin was a suspect of trying to incite the insercurrection of Texas. He thought it was not best for Texas to be part of Mexico. -
Battle of Gonzales
The battle of Gonzalez was fought because the Rebillion. The Texans won. The famous slogan is " Come and Take it". -
San Antonio de Baxar Seige
A seige is where an enemy surrounds a town or place. The leader of San Antonio before was Martin Perfecto de Cos. The leader after was Stephen F. Austin. -
Convention of 1836
The important documents written were the Texas Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Rebublic of Texas. -
The Alamo Falls
William Trvais, Davy Crockett, and James Bowie fought in the Alamo. There were about 600 alamo defenders and there were 3100 mexicans. Sam Houston didn't sent any troops because those men would die and if that happens Texans would have no chance in gaining independence. The Mexicans won the Alamo. -
Goliad Massadre
The Battle of Refugio. Santa Anna ordered the massacre. There were 55 men killed. -
The Runaway Scrape
Everyone was moving East. They weren't ready to fight. They were running away from Santa Anna's army. People thought Sam Houston was a coward for running away. -
Battle of San Jacinto
The battle cries were, " Remember the Alamo"' and " Remember Goliad". Only 9 Texans died and 633 mexicans were killed. Santa Anna tries to run away. The Texans were victorious.
