Texas (1825-1870)

  • Mexico forbid any further emigration into Texas by settlers in the Unied States.

  • Mexicans surrendered during the Battle Of Velasco due to lack of ammunition

  • The Revolution between the Texans and Mexicans began.

  • 90 Texans defeated 450 Mexicans at the Battle Of Concepcion near San Antonio.

  • The Grass FIght was won by the Texans. However, instead of gaining silver they gained a bounty grass.

  • Texas became the 28th state.

  • In a plan to solve boundary disputes and pay their debt, Texas relinquished about 1/3 of their territory in the Compromise od 1850, in exchange for $10 million from the U.S.

  • Texas seceded from the Federal Union with 171 to 6 votes by the secession convention.

  • After several weeks of Federal occupation of the Texas seaport, the Battle of Galveston restored the island to Texas control for remainder of the Civil War.

  • The United States Congress readmitted Texas in the Union.
