    Hitler in World War One

    Description: Adolf was drafted into the army at age 25, he received 5 medals including the iron cross, but wasn't made into sergeant because his superiors felt he didn't have military qualities and lacked leadership.
    Why it's Important: This gave Hitler some leader experience and military experience (useful for waging war) this also increased Hitler's hatred towards Jews and minorities. He thought they were responsible for anti war propaganda and the lose of the war.

    Why it's Important: This is where Hitler started to realize what he was good at and what he wanted to do, this group of people not only helped inspire him to rise up as a leader but also backed him up.

    Hitler Joins German Workers' Party

    Description: The German army told Hitler to investigate a small group known as the German Workers' Party, Hitler attended one of their public meetings, The members shared almost the same political opinion as himself. When a man stood up and argued the group's beliefs, Hitler stood up and yelled at the man, one of the members took note of his public speaking ability and later sent him a postcard in the mail saying they want him in the party.

    Nazi Party is Formed

    Description: Hitler began speaking publicly to, at first very little, to thousands of people about the problems in Germany being caused by Jews and the lower class. Hitler's messages were very powerful, causing enough followers that the party needed a flag, and a name change (Nazi Party).
    Why it's Important: Word of this new Nazi party is spread around all of Germany, making Hitler's frame increase and the number of people supporting him increase.

    Why it's Important: This means if the Nazi party is elected, Hitler will become a high government leader or chancellor (instead of another member of the party)

    Hitler Named Leader of Nazi Party

    Description: Hitler's public speaking was getting better, reaching out to all of Germany about the issues of the Treaty of Versailles and such. This was causing members of the Nazi party to think he was too overbearing and dictatorial. Hitler resigned from the party and agreed only to join back if he were promoted to leader of the party, seeing that the Nazi party would no longer have the support it needed without Hitler, they agreed.

    A New Beginning

    Description: After trying to overthrow the government by force, Hitler realized in jail that the way to become leader of Germany would not be to shoot their way in, but to legitimately run for chancellor, following the laws of politics.

    Why its Important: If the Nazi party got into parliament legitimately there would be no stopping them, Hitler could run for dictator if he wanted and could get rid of any opposition.

    Germans Elect Nazis

    Description: The Nazi party was appealing to so many Germans that they received 18% of the votes come election day. The Nazis were rewarded 107 seats in the German Reichstag. Jewish shops and homes were terrorised in celebration.
    Why it's Important: Hitler could now carry out his plan, members of the Nazi party would not obey the rules and push Germany into a worse state to make the Nazi party seem more appealing.

    Hitler Runs for President

    Description: Hitler heard that the former president was convinced to run for reelection, so he decided to run against him
    Why it's Important: Hitler as president meant a whole new Germany, one of terrorism and war. There would be no more Jews and Germany would try to take back land

    Hitler Named Chancellor

    Description: Hitler was now leader of Germany where he could enforced laws banning all opposition, start making advances to reclaim territory, and make a move towards dictatorship
    Why it's Important: Nazi's have now taken charge of Germany, this means Hitler has won, no one can stop him from making moves towards the new Germany he's been dreaming of.

    The Reichstag Burns

    Description: The Reichstag was burnt down in the middle of the night on purpose, the idea was to blame the communists to help get support in electing Hitler as dictator,
    Why it's Important: The goal was to convince the people the communists were responsible for burning down the Reichstag. When Hitler runs for dictator, he'd hope enough people would be on his side.

    Hitler Becomes Dictator

    Description: Hitler now had complete power to do anything, he would start by getting rid of all non Nazi members of parliament and send them to labour camps. He would now enforce conscription and advance his army into bordering countries at will. He could finally 'tear up' the treaty of versailles and set up Jewish concentration camps.
    Why it's Important: As a dictatorship, no one could go against him, his plan was to get back at the world for WW1 and prove Germany is a powerful nation.
