    Teddy Roosevelt was born the second of 4 children to a wealthy family of affluence in New York. His dad Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. was a successful Business man and philanthropist and his mother Martha Bulloch of Georgia also came from a wealthy slave owning family. As a child he was sickly with bad eyesight and asthma but was quit intelligent and was taught be private tutors.

    When the Yosemite park went under federal control in 1890 it preserved more than 1500 square miles of land for the preservation of nature. This would prevent people from defacing and destroying more of the natural land that is the native home to an abundance of animals.

    Teddy Roosevelt the Rough Rider at San Juan Hill
    The Battle of San Juan Heights was fought on July 1, and Roosevelt called it "the great day of my life." Roosevelt led a series of charges up Kettle Hill towards San Juan Heights on his horse (Texas), while the Rough Riders followed on foot. They were battling against the Spanish The first attempt at charging up the hill failed due to the heavy artillery being fired at them but Roosevelt led the Rough Riders to victory on the second attempt.

    Theodore Roosevelt at 42 became the 26th and youngest President in the US history with the assassination of President William McKinley. When Teddy entered his first presidency, he brought new excitement and power to the office leading Congress and the American public toward progressive reforms and a strong foreign policy.

    Theodore feared for coal famine and the development of social war so he had a meeting with both sides of the Coal famine and in this meeting he pleaded for resolution marking it the turn of the U.S. Government from strikebreaker to peacemaker in industrial disputes while previously they sided with the employer most of the time.

    The Act required that water users repay construction costs from which they received benefits. Irrigation projects were known as "reclamation"projects. When the National Reclamation Act was passed it set in motion the dramatic transformation of arid sections of the American West to "reclaim" land for productive agricultural use.

    The Elkins Act prohibited railroad companies from giving rebates to businesses that ship large quantities of goods and giving power to those businesses to artificially lower shipping prices. To enforce this the ICC heavily fined railroads that offered rebates.

    Roosevelt's administration undertook an antitrust action against Northern Securities Company, a holding company that controlled all the major railroads from Chicago to the Pacific Northwest. Roosevelt's administration accused the company of restraining trade and forced the company to dissolve. this established Roosevelt as a "trust buster."

    Incumbent Republican President Theodore Roosevelt defeated the conservative Democratic nominee, Alton B. Parker. With his landslide victory, Roosevelt became the first president to win a full term after assuming the office upon the death of his predecessor.

    This Act prohibited the sale of misbranded or adulterated food and drugs in interstate commerce and laid a foundation for the nation's first consumer protection agency, the Food and Drug Administration.

    It was an expedition sponsored in part by the Smithsonian Institution; Roosevelt was there to hunt big game which would in turn be stuffed and turned over to the Smithsonian for its exhibit halls. He collected around 11,400 animal specimens. The trip also involved political and social interactions with local leaders and dignitaries.

    On January 6, 1919, Theodore Roosevelt died suddenly in his sleep at the age of 60. this was shocking since Teddy was expected to run again for a third term the following year. This led to his 5th cousin running for president where he served 4 terms and the 22nd amendment was put into place.
