    Monday afternoon, steaming hot weather, with dry conditions. Tasmania reached record breaking temperatures.
  • Campfire lit in a old tree stump

    A campfire is lit in an old tree stump near Forcett and later, the men put out the fire with dirt and water.
  • Forcett fire first reported

    A campfire was lit near the western shore of Lake Repulse at about 11:30am.
  • Dunalley burns

    Friday morning, the Forcett fire is close to 1000 hectares [square meters] in size. The out of control blaze hits the town at 3:25pm, and is much worse than expected. At the same time, the fire's western flank spreads towards Connellys Marsh
  • East coast ablaze

    A fire at Lake Repulse in the Upper Derwent Valley wiped out several homes as well as livestock and farming material in the area.
  • Tasmania in shock

    More than 100 properties were destroyed and at least 80 properties were either damaged in Dunalley.
  • Fire conditions ease

    Lake repulse fire is contained after burning lots of land. The bushfire had destroyed bushland, farmland, livestock, crops and buildings.
  • Fire incident is over

    The Forcett fire is fully contained, having burnt around 25,000 hectares of land. Many things have been destroyed around 186 buildings including a school and a police station.
