    Parliament passed a law called Townshend Acts. The laws placed a tariff, or tax, on imported foods. They put it on paper, wool, tea, and other goods that the colonies imported from Britain.

    Mercy Otis Warren arranged a group called The Daughter of Liberty. Instead of buying tea, they made their own with berries and herbs. Instead of wool, they weaved their own.

    The Intolerable Acts was a law passed by Parliament because of the Boston Tea Party. There were laws such as, "The British soldiers who had been removed from the Boston Massacre were now sent back. Colonists were ordered to feed and house the soldiers." And, "The colony of Massachusetts was put under control of a British general named Thomas Gage." And, "The port of Boston was closed. No ships would be allowed to come or go until the people of Boston paid for the tea they had destroyed."
  • 1st Continential Congress

    1st Continential Congress
    A meeting that included all the colonies except Georgia. In the meerting, they agreed to stop all trade with Britain until the Intolerable Acts were stopped. They told colonies to get miltias ready and be prepared. They would meet again if the problem didn't improve in the future. Nuut they still wanted their dispute to end peacefully. Patriot leaders went home and organized militias. Some even called their militias minutemen because they were ready in minute's notice.
