Education of the Handicapped Act
This act mandates a special education for preschoolers with disabilities. It also mandates as an option by IDEA for early intervention services to infants and toddlers. It represents an opportunity to intervene and effect meaningful change in the lives of our nation’s youngest and most vulnerable children. -
No Child Left Behind Act 2001
This act was a major educational reform effort focusing on academic achievement of students qualifications of teachers. The test scores must be disaggregated according to the pupils’ disability, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and English language proficiency. The greater emphasis will most likely be placed on ensuring that pupils in special education are exposed to general education curriculum.
