    This case ensured that students with disabilities be seen as equal counterparts and not less than their peers. The Brown case stated that "students with disabilities had the same rights of students without." (Yell, 2016 pg. 38-39)

    The Elementary and Secondary Education Act-1965
    President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Act into law to give federal money to states for better education opportunities for students with disabilities who attended school for the blind, deaf and retarted. (Yell, 2016 pg. 41)

    Lau v. Nichols-1974

    The U. S. Supreme Court required school districts to provide appropriate instructional supports to all students not proficient in the English language, including non-English speakers and students with language deficiencies and/or disabilities.

    Education for all Handicapped Children Act of 1975

    In 1975 President Geral Ford Signed into law EHA. Students with physical and mental disabilities must recieve a free and equal education as other students and any public schools that was given federal funding must provide at least one free meal a day.

    In 1986 signed into law by President Regan. Act provides procedural safeguards for parents of handicapped children when special education decisions are made by schools.
