Brown v. Board of Education (The Civil Rights Movement)
Durning this case the Civil Rights Movement was also taking a stand. At this time they were fighting for equal opportunities for everyone especially African Americans. Because this was so impactful this helped push further to help those who were disable to also have equal opportunities. They argued that everyone should be given equal education no matter there race, or disability. -
Mills v. Board of Education
In this case seven students that not only had a variety of disabilities but they also were "out-of-school" students; There parents/guardians argued that they were being excluded from having a proper education. They wanted all childrent with disability to be able to have equal public education. This case was brought on by the PARC decision -
PARC v. Pennsylvania
This case argued that anyone should be allowed a free education whether they have a disability or not.
It is said that they were denied schooling if they were age 8 but had they still had not reached a mental capacity of a 5 year old.
They also argued they should be given proper education that best suited the students abilities. -
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
This argued that no body who has a disability should be discrimated against because of it. They said that all individuals with a disability should be given equal opportunities like everyone else. -
Rehabilitation Act
This act allows people with disabilities the opportunity to not be able to be discrimnated against and allowed to work with the aid of assistance at the begginning and being allowed at the end to to carry on the job as oneself responsibility. Equal opportunity for work -
The Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 (EAHCA)
This act helps fund those in public schools a opportunity of education. This also provides one free meal to those individuals with disability.
This is from the age of six to eighteen. -
TECH Act
This act allowed for funding for those in special education programs in need of technology to help better the students education. -
Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA)
The Education for All Handicapped Children Act changes to Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA)
Includes children with disabilities from the ages from three to twenty-one. -
Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA)
It also allowed children from three to nine years of age with developmetally delay children to fall under this act.
This act discussed the funding instead of ages six to eighteen they wanted to include ages three to nine years. This also allowed for funding for:

Individuals with Disability Education Improvment Act (IDEIA) (Best known as "IDEA"
This new provision of IDEA included that IEP's (Individualized Education Program) be given with parents approval and a provision in the way they disciplined children with special needs in the special education system.
