    Education of the Handicapped Act
    The Education of the Handicapped Act (EHA) was the first freestanding special education law that mandated for students with disabilities to be educated and receive the special education and services that they need.     The Rehabilitation Act
    The Rehabilitation Act prohibited discrimination on the basis of disability in programs that included Federal agencies, in Federal employment, in programs receiving Federal financial assistance, and in the employment practices of Federal contractors.     Education for All Handicapped Children Act
    The Education for all Handicapped Children Act was enacted by Congress to support states and localities in protecting the rights of, meeting the individual needs of, and improving the results for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.     Handicapped Children's Protection Act
    Handicapped Children's Protection Act (HCPA) amends the Education of the Handicapped Act to authorize the award of reasonable attorneys' fees, expenses, and costs to the parents of a handicapped child who is the prevailing party in a civil suit.     The Technology-related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act was passed when assistive technology (AT) was recognized as a need for people with disabilities by Congress. Numerous services and programs have resulted from the act helping people with disabilities have access to and use AT devices.     The Assistive Technology Act
    The Assistive Technology Act of 1998 replaced the Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988. This act directs the Secretary of Education to provide continuity grants, for assistive technology for individuals with disabilities, to States that have received less than ten years of funding under the Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988.
