Community Mental Health Act
Public Law 88- 164With this law, the amount of funding increased in public institutions, including schools, to help aide in the training of those with exceptionalities.

PARC v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
This gave children the opportunity to free and public education, regardless of mental age. This also allowed for more parent involvement in education due to collaboration with educators in regards to class accommodations needed for students.

Rehabilitation Act
This Act determined that public schools cannot forbade a student from attending based on their disability.

Education For All Handicapped Children Act
This law demanded that public schools must provide children with all social needs, mental and physical, an education. Larry P v. Riles
In 1979, this law was enacted to determine that no one can be labeled as handicapped without an adequate diagnosis. This comes after inaccurate testing hat was rooted in racial and cultural bias.

Public Law 99-457
This was a revision to the Education of Handicapped Children Act. This allocated new funds to help those with special needs from birth forward, not just in school.

IDEA
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act was created to formally modify the Education for All Handicapped Children Act. This law assures that those who need special education receive the best education they can, while trying to keep them in the standard classroom as much as possible.

Barnett v. Fairfax County Board of Education
This law amended the fact that school districts must provide the best education in the least restrictive environment and this occurred in a school that was not necessarily a students home school base.

Assistive Technology Act
This law allowed for financial support for classroom to gives those who are disabled the technology they need to prevail the most in the classroom. This applied to all age groups and school types.

No Child Left Behind
This law stated that all children must reach certain levels of competency before advancing to the next grade level. This also stated that states must have a routine assessment to determine if these competency levels have been met.

IDEA
This was the revision of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act that strengthened the overall planning. This raised the standards for personnel who are qualified to be special education teachers, raised IEP standards and increased transition planning to give individuals more support.

The Every Student Succeeds Act was passed by President Obama to modify the No Child Left Behind Act. This act revised standardized testing, advanced equity for all, and assure needed information is provided to all members of ones family.
