This was the first law to authorize funding for training teachers to work with special needs students. This first law provided support towards special education. -
Public Law 100-297
This is known as The Javits Act. The Javits program was made to collect money to support research and demonstration programs for special needs and the gifted children that come from disadvantaged homes. -
Public Law 94-142
This law is known as Education for all Handicapped Children Act.
It assured that all handicapped children were able to recieve free public education, regaurdless of needs. It also made sure that there were services to meet their needs. -

Public Law 99-457
This law is known as Education of the Handicapped Act Ammendment of 1986. This law helped the states develop plans and programs for choldren with special needs starting rfom birth. -

Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992
This was to ensure that people with disabilities waere treated equal. This extended their civil rights and this law helped make a voice to the public, showing that people with disabilities are equal. -
Public Law 107-110
This is the No Chiild Left Behind Act of 2001, made effective January 8 2002. This act required teachers and schools to bring the students to a certain level of competency. Funding towards the school depended on the results. The problem with this is that not all children, especially a child with special needs, were able to get to this level. -
IDEA 2004
Stands for Individuals with Disabilities Education ACT 2004. IDEA is a revision of the Public Law 94-142. It verifies the quality of personnel, holds IEP standards and provides transition services. -
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
This act was made to help simulate the economy, It provided states with funds directed towards children with need from birth to 5 years old.
