Prince Henry was a Portuguese navigator that sent many expiditions down to the west coast of africa. The expeditions were sent out to create maps of the West African coast, to defeat the Muslims, to spread Christianity, and to find trade routes.Prince Henry helped create the Great Age of Discovery that lasted from the 1400's to the early 1500's. -

Around 1510 Balboa and Leoncico departed on a boat going from Santo Domingo to San Sebastian. When Balboa and his dog arrived to San Sebastian they discoverd it was burnt down. In 1511 Balboa founded a colony to be the first on in south america named Santa Maria de la Antigua del Darien. -

In 1497, King Manuel asked Vasco’s brother, to lead an expedition to India so they could find a sea route.On July 7, 1497 after overseeing the building of two ships, Da Gama set sail for India, along with five other ships.On November 22 the ships rounded the Cape of Good Hope. during the long voyage there many of the men aboard were sick with, scurvy. in may of 1948 Da Gama arrived in Calicut, India. Gama made lots of trades with the people. -
