Prince Henry was a Portuguese navigator that sent many expiditions down to the west coast of africa. The expeditions were sent out to create maps of the West African coast, to defeat the Muslims, to spread Christianity, and to find trade routes.Prince Henry helped create the Great Age of Discovery that lasted from the 1400's to the early 1500's.

Bartolomeu Dias was the discoverer of Cape of Good Hope. Around July or August 1487 Diaz left libson with three ships to work of African exploration.Passing through Cão's farthest point near cape cross, Diaz built a pillar on what now is know as Diazs point, fragrments from the pillar still exsist.On Cabral's voyage in 1500 he was indeed permitted to take part in the discovery of brazil.

Amerigo was doubtful of Columbus's belief that he had already reached the outskirts of Asia. Amerigo joined Columbus to set sail to the trip that accidently landed them to discovering the americas, but there were others that discovered it before.

Around 1510 Balboa and Leoncico departed on a boat going from Santo Domingo to San Sebastian. When Balboa and his dog arrived to San Sebastian they discoverd it was burnt down. In 1511 Balboa founded a colony to be the first on in south america named Santa Maria de la Antigua del Darien.

Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer, he led the first expedition around the earth. in 1519 Magellan led a expedition westward around the tip of South America that would take them to the Moluccas. He had 5 ships with them, at the end of the voyage there was only 1 ship that made it back to Seville.

In 1497, King Manuel asked Vasco’s brother, to lead an expedition to India so they could find a sea route.On July 7, 1497 after overseeing the building of two ships, Da Gama set sail for India, along with five other ships.On November 22 the ships rounded the Cape of Good Hope. during the long voyage there many of the men aboard were sick with, scurvy. in may of 1948 Da Gama arrived in Calicut, India. Gama made lots of trades with the people.
