De Vaca discovered Texas accidentally by getting blown there by a large gale. When he washed up he met the Karankawas. After a long time he was finally found in Mexico. He was lost for nine years. -

Fray Marcos and his slave Esteban were in Texas because they were going to study Northern Texas and to verify that the 7 cities of gold are real. While they were there, they thought that they actually saw the 7 cities of gold. -

Moscoso's Expedition
The leader of this expedition was De Soto. He died along the way through it. The purpose of it was to find some gold from Florida to Texas. They discovered Mississippi River. They reported basically the same thing that Coronado did. Just like Coronado, their report stated that it isn't worth going to Texas . -

Coronado's Expedition
Coronado led a huge expedition to find Cibola and Quivera. He searched through five states to find them. And he did find them, they just weren't as they were described. Cibola turned out to be just a Zuni Indian village and Quivera was old and run down. The importance of it all was that he was verifying if the stories about Cibola and Quivera were true.
