Spanish armistice
Spain announced its armistice and accelerate its new program to restrict the power of self-government of Cuba. Then USA stated Cuban independence and require Spain to remove its armed forced. As a result, this increased the tensions between Spain and USA. -

Spain has lost Philippines and other territories as they were defeated by USA on the Spanish–American War. USA had said before, that it's only interested on defeat Spain and help Philippines to get the independence. However, when the Spanish–American War finished ,USA wage war against Philippines to dominate them.
