    Tha Natives Land Act of 1913 (Black Land Act No.27)
    This prohibited blacks from owning or renting land outside designated reserves. This constricted the majority of the South Africa population to only 7.5% of South Africa. Blacks could only live outside reserves if they were employed.
  • Mines and Works Amendment Act No 25

    Mines and Works Amendment Act No 25
    This act legalized the employment color bar, which colored and whites were privileged in finding employment. This law prevented blacks from finding higher level jobs.
  • Representation of Black Act No. 12

    Representation of Black Act No. 12
    Removed black voters in the Cape from the common roll and placed them on a separate roll. Blacks were then represented by four whites. This removes the Blacks influence on the government with voting.
  • Prohibition of Mixed Marriages

    Prohibition of Mixed Marriages
    This act made marriage between different races illegal. This made it more difficult to form relationships between racial groups which separated each race from one another even more.
  • Group Areas Act No. 41

    Group Areas Act No. 41
    This act separated people by their classification group. Whites were assigned to urban areas and non-whites were assigned to rural areas. However, majority of the jobs were in urban areas, which made it difficult for non-whites to become employed.
  • Black (Native) Laws Amendment Act No 54

    Black (Native) Laws Amendment Act No 54
    All blacks over the age of sixteen must carry passes and they were not allowed to stay in urban areas for longer than 72 hours (except for those who lived and were employed in urban areas for a certain amount of time), However, If the authorities deemed any black "idle or undesirable" they would be forced to remove. This law allowed for any black to be forced out of urban areas and made it hard for them to enter for employment or any other reason.
  • Black Education Act No. 47

    Black Education Act No. 47
    This act separated the education system for blacks and whites. The blacks were given an inferior education curriculum, which the black students were taught stuff that was "in accordance with their opportunities in life." This disabled children, teens, and adults from getting a proper education in South Africa.
  • Sexual Offense Act

    Sexual Offense Act
    This law made it illegal for blacks and whites to have intercourse or "commit any immoral or indecent act." Being that the last law is so broad it can be stretched to relate to various things. This made nay relationships between the races difficult to form or continue.
  • Bantu Self-Governing Act 1959

    Bantu Self-Governing Act 1959
    This act allowed independent Bantustans or homelands to be created. This allowed different ethnicities or tribes to "self-govern" their own land. This act claimed to be a way for the non-whites to be able to control their own land to escape racism and discrimination. However, it also allowed for the South African Government to disclaim the problems of the Bantustans.
  • Unlawful Organization Act No 34.

    Unlawful Organization Act No 34.
    This allowed for "threatening" organizations to be declared unlawful. The ANC and the PAC were both declared unlawful under this act. Like many of the other laws, this one could be stretched to fit into any organization the government did not like.
