Roald Amundsen: The First Person to Reach the South Pole.
At first Roald Amundsen had been planning to be the first to reach the North Pole, however he was beaten to that by fellow explorer Robert Peary and therefore made last minute changes to be the first person to reach the South Pole. He lead the first expedition to the South Pole and- despite many people having little faith that he would succeed- he reached there before Robert Scott, a British explorer which he was in a race with to be the first to get to the South Pole.

Roald Amundsen: Reaching the North Pole.
Although he wasn't the first person to reach the North Pole, this expedition meant that he was the first person who had travelled to both poles. He joined an expedition with Umberto Nobile and they together, aboard the airship Norge, flew over the North Pole in May in what was is considered to be the first undisputed (many people dispute Robert Peary's claim) visit to the North Pole. However the date which they reached the North Pole is unknown.

Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay: The First People to Climb to the Peak of Mount. Everest.
They began the climb as part of an expedition made up of 400 members (with them included). As they reached each camp, fewer and fewer people continued to climb, eventually resulting in them being the only people left. Together, they helped each other to reach the top, being extremely courageous throughout the whole of the journey, which allowed them to eventually reach the peak of Mount. Everest.
