  • Lincoln Douglas Debates

    Series of 7 debates between Lincoln and Douglas in the Presidential election
  • Lincoln's Election

    Lincoln won the election versus Douglas and began his fight against slavery
  • Fort Sumter

    Confederates raided the U.S. Fort Sumter and the U.S. surrendered, starting the civil war

    First major battle of the civil war. Each side had poorly trained troops ready for battle, with all of them having terrible leaders. After the battle, each side realized the war would be much longer than anticipated.

    Confederate army invaded Maryland. portion of army surrounded and captured the Union garrison

  • Emancipation Proclomation

    3 years of civil war went by until it was passed and freed so many slaves.
  • Gettysburg and Gettysburg address

    The greatest battle in the civil war. It was a major victory for the Union and was the turning point of the war.
    This was a speech spoken by Abraham Lincoln to remember all the lives lost at Gettysburg.
  • Andersonville Prison

    The largest confederate prison, housed 45000 Union soldiers in total after the Civil War. The conditions were terrible and many people died after a few days in the Prison.
  • Battle of Appomattox Courthouse

    One of the last battles fought in the Civil war, the Confederate army finally surrendered to the Union.
  • Lincoln Assassination

    John Wilkes Booth killed Abraham Lincoln in a theater on April 15, 1865. Abraham surprisingly didn't die right away but rather died of head trauma 9 hours after his death.
