    In 1480, Ivan the III, known as Ivan the Great, prince of Muscovy rejected Mongol Rule and declared independence for Kiev.

    Czar
    Ivan the IV declared himself Czar, or emporer, over all of Muscovy and expanded its empire extraordinarily.
