Mongol Conquere
Warriors from Central Asia conquered Kievan Rus. This made Kievan Rus loose most of its power. The Slavics that were home to Kievan Rus moved northward and built settlement. -

Rejection of Mongol Rule
In 1480 Ivan II or "Ivan the Great" was offered Mongol ruled but refused it. After the rejetion he declared indpendence. This is how Ivan II got his title " Ivan the Great." -

Ivan IV Declared Him Self Emperor
The harsh ruler " Ivan the Terrible" declared him self emperor in 1547. Ivan IV expanded his territories in the south by conquering nieghboring land. Later on czars kept on expanding there land so they could obtain the warm water ports for trade. -
Russia's Expantion
By the early 1700's Russia's empire hadextended to hte Pacific Ocean. Over the next hundred years it had covered parts of Central Asia. Because of this, immigrants necame part of the Russian Empire. -
Napoleon and army invades Russia
In 1812 a French army, led by Napolean Bonaparte, invaded Russia. The French army had to travel hundreds of miles and capture Moscou. The Russians destroyed any supplies that would be useful for the French. The Russians then abandoned and burned Moscou. -
Freedom for Russia
Czar Alexander II freed Russia of its 40 million serfs. This Freedom however did not release them poverty. Alexander began to remodel and expand Russia's economy, indrustries, and rialroads. -
Russia's Alinice
In 1914 Russia joined France and Great Britian to fight Germany and Austria in World War I. Russia was impacted by the war and was greatly damaged. Many Russians blammed czar Nicholas II for this down fall. -
Revolt against government
In the early 1917 Vladimir Lenin, the new czar, led the second revolt that over through the government. He then astablished a communist state. -
Early Slavics
In AD 800 the Slavic civilzation came to Russia. They settled around the city Kiev. The Slavics made there living off of trade between Scandinauia and the Byzautine empire. -
Missionaries bring Christianity and in written anguage
The Kievan Rus converted to Eastern Orthodox Christainity in AD 988. The missionaries brought this form of Christanity from the Byzantine Empire. The missionaries also brought a written language to the Kievan Rus,
