Shay's Rebellion
American farmers were outraged by the enforcement of tax collections and judgments for debt. These farmers began a rebellion against the state governments. The worst of the the rebellions was in Massachusetts. It was the summer of 1786 that the rebels went to attack the federal arsenal at Springfield. The state militia defeated the rebels. Even though the rebellion had lost, it gave the politicians something to think about, regarding a new government system. -
