Albany Plan of Union
Was a plan to place British N.A colonies under a more centralized government. First proposal to concieve the colonies to unite under one government. Ended in failure, but is served as a model for future attempts. -
Proclamation of 1763
At the end of the French & Indian War, this document concilated Indians by checking encroachment for settlers on their land. It closed down colonial expansion westward, affected all thirteen colonies. -
Sugar Act
Designed to raise revenue from American colinists. Act set a tax on sugar and molasses imported into colonies.Regulated trade to non British suppliers. -
Stamp Act
Exacted revenue from American colonies by imposing stamp duty on newspapers. Imposed direct tax on colonists. -
Quartering Act of 1765
Required colonies to house British soldiers, if not they were to relocate to an inn. -
Stamp Act Congress
"No taxation without representation." No colony could do anything alone without a message to a king or Parliament. James Otis brought forward it should be a united course of action. -
Repeal of the Stamp Act
Taxation measure to raise revenues for British army in America. Appealed by Benjamin Franklin, because of acts of protest.Parliament repealed this act. -

Secured the dependence upon dominions in America and parliament of Great Britain. Made laws binding on American colonies, Made no distinction for taxation without representation. -
Townshend Act
Regulated colonial trade by taxing items that needed it. Imported taxes on British goods that were sent to America. Idea of Charles Townshend, who had a difficult role in dealing with British government of managing finances. -
Boston Massacre
Killing of colonists by British regulars.Group of British soldiers were being pressed by a crowd of shots, snowballing, etc. Remembered as a key event to help colonial public to Patriot cause. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists dumped tea into harbor, repelled against taxation. -
Intolerable Acts
Happened in result of Boston Tea Party. Boston Port, Massachusetts government, Administration of Justice, and Quebec Act. It punished colonists. -

Law that recognized Roman Catholic Church. Made more effectual provision for the government . -
