French and Indian War

Proclamation of 1763
The proclamations closed off the Western frontier to the English settlers and kick out those that had already settled. -
Sugar Act
The sugar act reduced the tax that the Molasses Act (1733) had imposed. It also add more good to be attacked. -
Stamp Act
This act taxed every document that was made of paper. -
The Quartering Act
An act passeed that said that the Americans were suppose to provide housing for the British Souldiers. -
The Sons of Liberty
They were a group of people that led rebellious acts agains the British. -
Stamp Act Congress
"No Taxation without Representation!"
They led inter colonial boycotts against the taxes -
The Declatory Act
The King and his constituents have all governing rights of the colonies. -
Townshend Revenue Act
Taxes on glass,paint,oil,lead,paper,and tea intended to raise money for the adminstration of the coloniese. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers open fire on rioting protesters. Several colonists were killed. This led to a campaign by numerous wirters to rouse the citizens. -
Gaspee Incident
Colonists raid and burn the ship Gaspee. The ship was tasked with patrolling Naragansette Bay, but due to a crooked captain, stole large sums of cargo from other ships. -
Boston Tea Party
A group of Masachusetts Patriots, protesting the British monopoly on tea, dump 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor. They were disguised as Native Americans. -
Coercive Act
A series of four acts established by the British to punish the Americans for the Boston Tea Party.
